Astrophotography in the Tampa Bay Area [15 Feb 2010|04:16pm]

hewtab
Hi all, I'm new to this community so excuse me if this isn't allowed, but i was hoping someone knew any good locations to do astrophotography near the st. pete/tampa bay area in FL? Or better yet, if city lights will interfere with getting a nice shot of the stars? Any help would be really appreciated as this is the first time I'll be doing this.

Riverside, CA [11 Mar 2009|02:17pm]

redpirk
About 20 minutes from the house. The road up to this point is steep but it's worth the view. This isn't even the highest point. The view is of Riverside..the next city over.

Symmetry [28 Jan 2009|11:21am]

Lesson # 3. Symmetry

Symmetry is produced when a photographer captures the dead center of an image and perfectly sees to it that whatever elements pictured on the left are also on the right.

Fun Fact: In a Nat Geo article, “The Enigma of Beauty”, it is noted that people with symmetrical features tend to be more beautiful.

Thus, to quantify a beautiful face, the distance from the bridge of the nose to the left cheekbone should have the same measurement with the one to the right. And, the same should be achieved with every part of the face: the distance of the eyes to the nose, the measurement of the mouth, the width and shape of every smile, frown or any facial contortion or expression.

This should explain why there are people who look beautiful no matter what angle they are photographed in and in whatever pose. Unfortunately for me, I’m not one of them blessed bastards. Hahaha. :)

The same holds true with photographs.
Suffice it to say that symmetry = perfection.

Full Moon at Perigee 12/13/08 [13 Dec 2008|09:43am]

The moon's average distance from us is about 238,855 miles. Tonight it was just 221,560 miles away. This is the closest the moon has been to earth in 15 years and the closest it will be till 2016.

Shot with a 200mm lens from my front lawn.

Here's a short montage of my night photos, youtube style:

If it buffers too much let me know, I'll scale the quality back.

It's a rough draft, it has a few kinks to work out as I just started on my home movie editing hobby.
